MapQuest with Jackson Pollack?

The mapping technology for presidential election results has evolved. Cartograms are maps in which a variable (i.e. population) is substituted for land area. U.S. electoral cartograms were largely developed by Mark Newman. Professor Newman teaches at the University of Michigan in the Department of Physics and the Center for the Study of Complex Systems. This Oxford chap has a new book out called The Atlas of the Real World: Mapping the Way We Live. Check out his website for traditional election maps and cartogram representations of population, electoral votes and county-by-county results from the 2004 and 2008 elections (Hawaii and Alaska coming soon). The New York Times also has a great traditional web-based map for 1992-2008 Presidential Election results.
